Mere Nursery is part of our group of six nurseries who all share the same vision, educational ethos and approach to working with children and families.
Our strong belief is that we can best meet the needs of parents, children and our team by listening to what they have to say about nursery. You will find so many opportunities to tell us what you think and how we can improve right from the start. From the settling in process all the way through to the day your child leaves us, confident, happy and extremely well prepared to start school
We listen to our team regularly too. Through staff forums, team building events, appraisals, awards and family events as well as having a culture of open dialogue and discussion. We know this promotes a positive attitude to work and ensures everyone shares our vision and helps each other to do the very best they can for all our children and families.
A sound understanding of what young children need to do well in their early years and beyond underpins how we make all decisions about the running of the nursery, from appointing senior managers and teachers to deciding what resources to buy or how best to share information about children’s well-being and development.
Julie Lightley, Owner/Director
My role is very much about facilitating our teams to deliver the best in early years care and education. Working closely with Emma, we are constantly on-hand to support Sarah and her team. Being in regular contact and visiting nursery often means I know the many fantastic opportunities Sarah provides for our children and can see the close relationships she’s developed with our families at the Mere.
Emma Jones, Operations Director
Working closely with Julie, we ensure that Sarah has everything she needs to deliver first class childcare in a beautiful learning environment with an outstanding team of practitioners. My teaching and leadership experience means I can provide mentoring and guidance to support Sarah to continue to meet all the requirements of her role.
Sarah Eyes, Nursery Manager
Working in early years has been my passion since I left High School and my vision is always to provide outstanding care and education for all children. As a mum myself I understand how precious your little ones are and will treat them like my own.
I am committed to leading, managing and coaching our team to ensure they can progress in their career in our group of nurseries and reach their full potential.
Natalie Barton, Assistant Manager
I have worked for the Village Nursery Group since 2008 and have worked at our sister nursery The Quays before taking this position. I am a qualified Early Years Teacher.
As a parent myself, I know how hard it is to leave your child in someone else’s care and I work closely with staff to make sure that it goes as smoothly as possible for you. I love creating strong bonds with children and families to enable us to work together so that your child makes outstanding progress.
Before working in childcare, I gained a degree in Drama and Education Studies which really comes in handy when playing with energetic 2-4 year olds!

It is a joy working here and watching the children thrive and grow in a lovely setting that really meets their needs at their unique stage of development. Lynne Peach, Nursery Cook
I’ve been the cook at Mere Nursery for over 10 years and have enjoyed my time here very much. I especially love watching the babies grow into lively toddlers and pre-schoolers. It’s fantastic to spend time outside of the kitchen to get to know all of the children at nursery. Outside of work my time is spent reading, walking and entertaining my grandchildren.
