Mere Nursery is part of our group of six nurseries who all share the same vision, educational ethos and approach to working with children and families.
Our strong belief is that we can best meet the needs of parents, children and our team by listening to what they have to say about nursery. You will find so many opportunities to tell us what you think and how we can improve right from the start. From the settling in process all the way through to the day your child leaves us, confident, happy and extremely well prepared to start school
We listen to our team regularly too. Through staff forums, team building events, appraisals, awards and family events as well as having a culture of open dialogue and discussion. We know this promotes a positive attitude to work and ensures everyone shares our vision and helps each other to do the very best they can for all our children and families.
A sound understanding of what young children need to do well in their early years and beyond underpins how we make all decisions about the running of the nursery, from appointing senior managers and teachers to deciding what resources to buy or how best to share information about children’s well-being and development.
Julie Lightley, Owner/Director
My role is very much about facilitating our teams to deliver the best in early years care and education. Working closely with Emma, we are constantly on-hand to support Stacey and her team. Being in regular contact and visiting nursery often means I know the many fantastic opportunities Stacey provides for our children and can see the close relationships she’s developed with our families at the Mere.
Emma Jones, Operations Director
Working closely with Julie, we ensure that Stacey has everything she needs to deliver first class childcare in a beautiful learning environment with an outstanding team of practitioners. My teaching and leadership experience means I can provide mentoring and guidance to support Stacey to continue to meet all the requirements of her role.
Sarah Eyes, Nursery Manager
Working in early years has been my passion since I left High School and my vision is always to provide outstanding care and education for all children. As a mum myself I understand how precious your little ones are and will treat them like my own.
I am committed to leading, managing and coaching our team to ensure they can progress in their career in our group of nurseries and reach their full potential.
Kelly Griffiths, Assistant Manager
I enjoy every second of working here! I have over 6 years of experience in early years and have just returned home from Australia where I taught 4-5 year olds, in a pre-school setting. This has given me a wider knowledge of culture and a range of learning experiences.
I have a great love for Forest Schools and the area surrounding the nursery is just the perfect location for children to embrace challenges and learn from them and also gives children the opportunity to be curious and creative in their learning.
Since completing my degree in Early Years, I take pleasure in being part of children's everyday development and helping them to achieve their full potential.
Becki Gilhooley, Room Supervisor
I really enjoy teaching and working with all of our children in the Over 2's room and it is a privelege to work with such a great team. I love to support the children's progress and prepare them for school. Before joining The Village Nursery Group, I was a primary school teacher. I have a childcare level 3 diploma and graduated from Hull University in 2014 with my Primary teaching degree.
Carley Nunn, Room Supervisor
As a supervisor, I am here to support Stacey and the team to provide the very best childcare for all of our families. I am responsible for managing our beautiful Under 2’s room where my qualifications and experience is put to good use helping mums, dads and babies settle into and feel a valued part of nursery life.
Kirsty Marriott, Nursery Practitioner
Working with our busy toddlers, our favourite play activities are open-ended and allow children to explore using all their senses, so that means you will normally find me where there is the most mess! I have great ways of ensuring all activities are fun but provide the right amount of challenge for each child individually.
Sarah Gow, Nursery Practitioner
I have almost 20 years experience working with children and I love working with our toddlers. I use timely interventions, playing alongside and asking questions to help children explore different ideas and concepts. I love to be outdoors and use these teaching opportunities as much outdoors as I do indoors. I have a calm and nurturing nature which supports our younger toddlers to feel safe, secure and happy.
